Ali Nettles is a RYT-200 yoga instructor based in Washington, DC.

Born and raised in Selma, Alabama, Ali was introduced to the physical practice of yoga as a teenager.

After moving to Washington, D.C. years later, Ali began taking yoga classes more consistently as a way to stay balanced in a work-hard, play-hard city.

Feeling yoga’s positive impacts on her body, mind, and spirit, Ali became curious about the philosophy and science of yoga. Ali then practiced and was trained under Mimi Rieger, an internationally recognized Ashtanga and Power Yoga instructor. In her training, Ali learned the ancient roots of yoga and various lineages, mindful and intelligent sequencing, human anatomy, and the eight limb path of yoga, which continues to inform her life every single day.

Ali began teaching yoga to others to share the gifts of confidence, calm, and community that yoga has given her. In Ali’s classes, she encourages authenticity and provides a “no judgment” space that allows students to let go and take flight.

Today, yoga is a non-negotiable part of Ali’s life.

In addition to teaching, she tries to practice at least 3 hours of yoga every week — whether that be taking an in-person class, meditating, or studying the Yoga Sutras.
