Ali Nettles is a RYT-200 yoga instructor.

Born and raised in Selma, Alabama, Ali was introduced to the physical practice of yoga as a teenager. After moving to Washington, D.C. years later to work in U.S. politics, she began taking yoga classes more consistently as a way to stay balanced in a work-hard, play-hard city.

Feeling yoga’s positive impacts on her body, mind, and spirit, Ali became curious about the philosophy and science of yoga. She then practiced and trained to become a teacher under Mimi Rieger, an internationally recognized Ashtanga and Power Yoga instructor.

In January 2026, Ali took a leap of faith, leaving corporate America to travel the world full-time and lead international wellness retreats that help others reconnect with themselves through movement and meaningful travel. She documents her adventures on her Substack, Adventures with Ali.

Today, yoga is a non-negotiable part of Ali’s life.

In addition to teaching, she tries to practice at least 3 hours of yoga every week — whether that be taking an in-person class, meditating, or studying the Yoga Sutras.
